Hi, is there any way to set the map to zoom-in on a particular area when the user first sees it? This would be very much appreciated.

    Thanks, Matt

The lack of this feature is what stops me from using Flickrmap. I want to use it to document intensive excursions to particular places. Switching on to a view of the world does not work! Also the trip feature needs to work with googlemaps. The other map is not sufficiently accurate. I would like to use it for an excursion to the north west corner of Rhum and I cannot get sufficiently close for the trip to be distinguished. I can get close enough with Google but the trip does not appear. The page I would like to use Flickrmap is http://www.churchard.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/WEGA/Pages/Excursions/Guiridil.html
But Flickrmap is coming on - soon it will be very useful!

    Thanks, Graeme

you can set the initial zoom and thestarting center point for your map using the settings tab when you sign intgo flickrmap.

Although I can't see a way to set initial zoomfor the google maps version. Anyone?

    regards

If you're a premium subscriber you can now set the starting point and zoom level on the "settings" page. The google version is under development and I'll try and add in the same features as the flash version over time. It is a lower priority though. I'm also looking at bringing Yahoo maps data into the flash version for those that want street level detail.

I'm presuming using Yahoo Maps (as opposed to Google Maps) would be better for the people at Flickr (for obvious reasons!) - they'll probably promote it a bit more for you then too!

Yahoo maps still has virtually no International detail ---unlike Google (at least in Western Europe)

Thanks for pointing out the settings. It works fine now.

I'm having difficulty with the zoom--in settings it says I can zoom from level 1-400, but in reality i can't go past 255.
